Research that goes back through the farm gate.

For farmers

Working pasture is research material too.

The group does not work only with experimental plots. Everything below has already been done with farmers in west-central Minas Gerais, and remains open.

Technical training

Seven short courses since 2023, each starting from a real production problem:

  • Brewery sludge as pasture fertiliser
  • Brewery by-products in ruminant diets
  • Balanced diet formulation for smallholders
  • Waste management and adding value to local produce

Farm diagnosis

A technical and production survey applied to 64 farmers across 16 municipalities, analysed and published. The instrument exists, is validated and can be run again — including by an association or cooperative wanting a picture of its own members.

Advice and an open door

Farmers looking for technical advice are served by the group together with the course's junior enterprise. We run short courses, talks, seminars and field days, and the campus is open to visits: the agrostological field and the forage species bank can be toured by groups, with the grasses side by side, in the same soil and the same climate.

No form and no deadline. Just get in touch.

How to get in touch. Write describing the problem in a few lines — area size, what you produce, what is going wrong. University extension work carries no cost to the farmer. Company-driven demands involving trials or product validation follow a different route: see partnerships.
