A simple, difficult question.

The group

One simple, stubborn question.

What governs herbage accumulation in tropical C4 grasses — and how do you measure it well enough to predict it.

Every line of work follows from it: morphogenesis and tiller demography, cell-wall chemistry, terpenes with antimethanogenic potential, and digital tools for field data collection.

GNAFOR was founded in 2025, is registered in the CNPq Directory of Research Groups and is based at the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG), Divinópolis campus. It brings together undergraduate students in Agronomy, FAPEMIG-funded research fellows, and partnerships with UFSJ and with farmers in west-central Minas Gerais. The group is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Vinícius Valim Pereira.
